Well if they are, as you say, "school computers" then it is likely that you will be locked out of any system controls that can access and disable security functions. However if you can get in then here is how to disable windows XP firewall: Start Settings Control Panel Network Connections Here you should see a list of connection types. You should right-click on the connection you are using (or even right-clicking the LAN Connection should do in your case) and select "Properties" then choose the "Advanced" tab. Click "Settings" in the "Windows Firewall" window and in the "Genneral" tab dissable the firewall by chossing "Off" Dont forget to close out by clicking "OK" so the settings are saved (can't tell ya how many times I close stuff out without saving the settings then I wonder why everything is all screwed up ) Like I said you may not have the ability to do this on an administrated system like a school network but give it a shot. PS: Its likely tho that there is also a firewall at the hub of the network. In that case youre shit out of luck

School comps go through routers, and I betcha anything it has a firewall... If the SP2 firewall is'nt the problem its probly the router.
Find out what kind of router they have then get back to me.

I doubt very much that the router model will matter. He wont have access to it anyway, you need an admistrative password to access those controlls and possibly physical access to the router because you may (or may not) need to reset it.
